TRADES HOUSE OF GLASGOW BURGESS ROLL
The following Burgess Rolls have been digitised and are available for free download from below for personal use:
The books Burgesses and Guild Brethren from 1573 to 1750 and Burgesses and Guild Brethren from 1751 to 1846 are invaluable books for tracing anyone who became a burgess over the time frame specified.   Both books have been digitised by the Trades House and may be downloaded for non profit private study.
 

Guide to Burgess Roll
A short guide to the Burgess Rolls has been created which explains the system of Burgesses and the abbreviations used in the following documents and is available for downloading for personal use at GUIDE.

Roll of City of Glasgow Burgess From 1846 to 1904
The Archives Team recently found the
City's Burges records and these have now been transcribed from 1846 to 1906.   The following records are now available and hold the names of the applicant's father or wife and father-in-law etc.  They are a great addition to the above Anderson Books.

Generally the most useful order to use is Surname order as this will display all the people with the same surname in sequence and makes finding relations easier.

Roll of Guild Brethren of Glasgow Trades House from October 1855 to 1902
The Roll of Guild Brethren for Glasgow has been transcribed from the original Roll which is held in the Trades Hall of Glasgow.   This is a particularly important document as it includes the 1020 citizens of Glasgow who volunteered to give their services to fight for their country n the South African War.
The Roll is available in four formats for downloading for personal use:
